How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

If you've ever thought, "Is this typical?" - you're not alone! Maybe you're starting to notice your child isn't talking as much as their peers, they're getting frustrated when trying to communicate, or you find yourself playing translator. That's a great time to schedule a consultation! Trust your gut - early intervention can make all the difference.

What exactly does Speech Pearls offer?

We provide fun, functional, and family-centered speech and language therapy for little ones - in your home, at select preschools, or online via teletherapy. Wherever your child feels most comfortable, that's where we will meet them! Currently offering in-person services in The Heights & Garden Oaks areas or teletherapy throughout Texas.

What does a typical speech therapy session look like?

Picture playtime with a purpose! Sessions are engaging and fun - think books, games, toys, and movement - all designed to support your child's communication goals. We always share what we're working on and how you can support progress at home.

What do I need to complete prior to the initial evaluation session?

Great question! Before we get started, we'll send you a few forms to fill out. These will ask about your child's development, any concerns you may have, and a bit about their medical and therapy history. Once returned, we'll schedule your child's evaluation and get started!

How often will we have sessions?

We typically recommend 1-2 times per week, but we know that every family is different! Depending on your child's needs and goals, we can adjust the frequency to fit your schedule and their progress. After the initial evaluation, we'll recommend a schedule that works best for everyone - we're flexible!

Do you take insurance?

We are currently private pay but can provide superbills (essentially, a therapy receipt) if you'd like to request reimbursement from your insurance. We'll help guide you through that process if you're unsure how that works!

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

Nope! You do not need a referral to get started with Speech Pearls. You can reach out to us directly if you have any concerns about your child's speech, language, or feeding. We're happy to chat, answer your questions, and help you take that first step with confidence.
